Where do we start. We are entirely exhausted. We made it to Coniston by getting lost several times and being saved by local smiling English folks. We found the Blue Bells but not as often the trail markings. They might have been there, but we missed them.
We also under estimated the trail conditions and the number of times we had to scale stone step stills, wooden ladder styles, open and close gates. You just can't transit kissing fences quickly. Though the endless fields looked green and harmless, hidden were deep cow hoof impressions often filled with water ready to twist the human foot. Some paths and trails were very rocky demanding attention.
Wetness In some form was ready to engulf our waterproof boots. Wet grass, gills, ravine stream, becks, valley streams, farm yards in general and Boggs.
One particular challenge was walking around Beacon Tarn. You had to choose your own course where any course took you through boggy soil.
Of course, when you could look up at the scenery, it was spectacular. Cows and even more sheep with baby lambs were on all sides. So were the rock walls.
We are exhausted.
